I started my working career as a florist apprenticing in various London Shops and floral companies, providing floral decorations for London homes, hotels and clubs. some fabulous weddings and all sorts of functions.

After having children my life changed and a new passion was found: for my babies, birth, women, cesareans, birth after cesarean and supporting women who had a difficult birth.

When my daughter was two I started my midwifery training and qualified as a midwife in 1995

I worked with the amazing South East London and Albany Midwives providing continuity of care to women, on call for my own named caseload of women providing total midwifery care throughout pregnancy, birth and the first month after the birth.

After leaving the midwifery practice I worked in a number of South and East London Hospitals, Most recently as a Consultant Midwife with Lewisham and Greenwich Trust an award winning Maternity Service.

The plan was to sell up and move out of London, who knew that selling and buying a new home would be such a challenge…..

I had to make my big business plans smaller and more manageable and my vast stash of fabric, so vintage haberdashery was the answer, Lampshades!
First on Etsy and Greenwich Market and then Whitstable Harbour Market ( which is just a glorious place to make lampshades).

In 2019 we opened the doors to The Little Shop Of Vintage a mix of vintage clothes and bridal wear.
Handmade lampshades using vintage and retro / quirky , and designer fabrics.
